Semex Jersey Australia Great Southern Challenge

The Semex Jersey Australia Great Southern Challenge is the largest judging competition for Jersey cattle in the southern hemisphere, attracting more than 1,600 entries from 750 breeders throughout south-eastern Australia.

The Great Southern Challenge differs from conventional judging events in that cattle are assessed for their structural correctness on their home property. Entries are assessed for their inherent structural correctness using a 40-point scale over 18 traits.

Australian Jersey Breeders Society Sub-Branches and Cattle Clubs throughout Victoria, South Australia, southern NSW and Tasmania conduct their own on-farm challenge during spring. The three winners from each of the 11 regional competitions are then over-judged to determine the three Great Southern Challenge champions.
